I hate things in my pockets while wearing cargo shorts. I find them constantly sliding down. Enough was enough when I almost lost my britches! :o

Maxpedition neatfreak goes with me full of my essentials.

I just wear either a regular pair of jeans or shorts:

Front left pocket: Samsung GS5

Front right pocket: Wallet, keys and most recently: a 'Rite-in-the-rain' pen (trying to EDC a small pad and pen)

Change pocket: Small knife and/or my work phone (when I'm on-call)

Belt: SOG Multi-tool (in leather case)

Rear pocket: 'Rite-in-the-rain' note pad

Looking to get some cargo pants and shorts and utilize those pockets also.

Aww here goes...

Left front pocket:

  • Knife (ZT801CF)
  • Small 4x7 Dry Bag
  • Zebra F701
  • Nite Ize Doohickey (In coin pocket)

Right front pocket:

  • Smartphone (Note 3)
  • Field Notes

Left back pocket:

  • Keys w/Bottle Opener and USB Key

Right back pocket:

  • Wallet

Arm left:

  • Watch (G-Shock Rangeman)

Belt 7 o'clock (In TAD Gear BC4):

  • Gerber Dime w/Paracord
  • Zebralight H502

Belt  5 o'clock

  • TAD Gear RDDP1

The only chances come when I wear cargo pants then everything in the back pockets shifts to the corresponding cargo pocket.

I just changed mine up a bit. Pretty much the same, but started using the cargo pockets:

Front right pocket: Spyderco Ambitious

Front left pocket: iPhone 5C

Right cargo pocket: Bic Atlantis Comfort

Left cargo pocket: Gerber Dime

Right back pocket: wallet

Left back pocket: nitrile gloves when at school, Snus when not.

Im thinking about adding a Gerber Shard sometime soon for the Phillips driver and the pry bar. That will probably go in the pocket with the Dime.

I've become pretty interested in this kind of topic, I've always seen load-outs/pocket dumps and wondered how others carry their items.

I almost always wear a belt, has a built in bottle opener on the inside

my cellphone is always in it's case and clipped onto the belt  at the 2 o clock

esee izula is attached at the 8 o clock

front left pocket: wallet, gerber dime, streamlight nano

front right pocket: keys, spare change, lighter, pens

back left pocket: klarus P1A clipped on, some tissues or napkins

back right pocket: cellphone headphones, sometimes charger too

when wearing cargos;

signal mirror, whistle, and ferrocium rod, rubber banded together in left side

all-weather notebook, clif/power bar in right side

backup knife clipped to right side pocket, rat 1

that's mainly how I do it

if I go light (shorts), I can throw my phone and keys in one pocket and wallet and gerber dime in the other

I have been experimenting with a new carry. It kinda happened randomly. I was in class and realized my Ambitious wasn't in my pocket, I started to panic, but then found it stuck to the steering wheel cover in my truck (not sure how that happened...) I pulled out my backup knife from my bag (Buck Bantam BLW), but when I found my ambitious at break time, I clipped the Buck to my back-left pocket.

I've never been much to clip knives to my back pocket, but I am starting to like it. I only will do it when I carry 2 blades, and keep my less-used blade in my back-right pocket, switching my wallet to my back-left.

Any preferences towards specific Field Notes covers which double as wallets? There are many out there these days making the choices limitless (maybe)

Since I've been doing ride alongs on the ambulance for my EMT course lately, I have changed my carry to go according to comfort/practicality on the rig. I have cargo/BDU style EMT pants, which have plenty of pockets. This is my EMT carry:

Right Front: CRKT M21-12G

Right Back: cheap minimalist wallet

Right Cargo Pen Pouch: Streamlight Stylus Pro

Left Front: iPhone, pen

Left Cargo: Littmann Classic III stethoscope, 1" medical tape (hung on the steth)

I used to carry more, but it isn't really comfortable or practical for me, since all my other gear is right next to me, in my backpack, on the rig.

pistol at 1530 left side IWB or OWB on a Galco gun belt, spare mag (when carried) right back pocket. Phone L/F pocket cash and card holder R/F pocket. When I carry a knife it'll be clipped in L/F pocket. If I carry a fixed blade it'll be 1530 right side. Truck keys in L/F pocket.

95% of EDC on me.

Pistol

cash/ card holder

phone

keys.

Everything else lives in the EDC bag that stays in the truck.

Right Front Pocket - Paper Money in Money Clip, Keys, Small Pill Box with meds, Small Change Purse

Right Rear Pocket - Small ID Case, Kershaw Blur or else in Right Cargo pocket

Left Rear Pocket - Bandana, sometimes Cell phone unless I were Cargos then Left Cargo pocket or Shirt pocket

Left Front Pocket - 2 pairs of disposable Gloves in a small bag, In another small bag, 20ft of Para cord, small eye glass cleaning cloth, a Jetstream whistle,    tweezers, Leatherman Mica, small finger clippers, small Bic lighter, and finally a space pen

Right side on belt - Ruger Lc9 in Crossbreed Holster, IWB appendix carry

Left side on belt - From 9 to 12, extra magazine in holster and in a separate re-purposed small Cell phone holster, a Streamlight Microstream flashlight and a Blackhawk Hawkhook rescue tool, the 2 holsters are carried IWB.

I agree with Wally Gator. I've recently invested in a couple of good gun belts (Hank's) and extra weight, when I'm carrying a heavier knife, or pocket holster, and the cell phone, keys, little knife, redistributes really well without my trousers sliding down. The bonus for me is that of the three belts I own, two are sized for dress trousers at 1.25" and the other for jeans at 1.5"

I highly recommend investing in a good thick belt. Someone recently told me that Costco had a double walled belt for $8. Good starting point if you don't wnat to spring for leather.
