I hunt, fish, hike and love the outdoors in general and yet I live in a big city.  As a result one of the things I lack here (aside from good outdoor sporting goods stores) are the availability of outdoor education courses, specifically navigation and basic first aid.

I recently came across two such courses offered online,  https://www.aimadven...irst-aid-basics  and

https://www.aimadven...ntry-navigation

through the site Backpacker

https://www.backpacker.com/

In a perfect world I would take these courses in an actual classroom or ideally in the outdoors but given my location, work load and familial responsibilities it is just not  practical at the moment.  An online course seems like the next best option for now, although I have never done one before.  This is a brief review on the class on backcountry navigation https://www.digitalt...im-adventure-u/ .

Obviously there is no substitute for face to face classes in a real life setting but until I can do that this seems like a fairly convenient way to become a bit more educated.

I will report back on how these are as I take them.
