I'm a self described backpacking stove NUT.  I buy more camp kitchen gear than I can handle.  (((Maybe I'll start a new thread for outdoor gear)))  Anyway, I've considered buying the BioLite many times.  I stare at it every time I go to this one outdoor store, but I can't bring myself to make the purchase.  It's so cool and has a ton of accessories, but at just a hair above 2lbs, it's not practical for me to take into the backcountry.

Yes, these are very cool! But like Chris said, probably not practical to take backpacking.

They are very cool, but probably better served for car camping type trips than backpacking or minimalist type camping. Still, since you don't have to carry fuel, it might be a nice addition to a BOB if you have extra room. If you want something like this simply to charge electronics, I would suggest a good solar charger instead. You can get a 14W Anker solar charger for about half the price of the BioLite stove.

From the reviews I've read these need a lot of heat to produce enough power to charge a phone. Good if you want to feed the stove for over an hour. Maybe spend money on a good solar panel with 20 watts output so it works under cloud cover.

That's pretty neat, wouldn't mind keeping one in the truck for emergencies
