I just received an xtar vp2 and when unboxing it I noticed what appears to a clearish type of liquid running along the silver connectors of the chargers.

I wiped a bit off but there is still some liquid. Almost looks like vaseline.

Sorry for the strange question but anyone have an idea what this would be?

Safe to use this?

The VP2 chargers are excellent quality.  The VP2 was the very first XTAR charge I ever purchased, I wouldn't recommend using it.  Contact the seller, as soon as possible, to see about getting an exchange - or to, at least, see what they have to say about it.

I have two of these VP2s, and about a dozen other XTAR chargers

, and have never received any of the chargers with this kind of liquid on them. All of my purchases have been directly from an XTAR distributor (and there's a store about five minutes away from me, so it's very convenient), and they've always taken care of any problems I had with a charger, immediately.  Great service :-)

The only thing you should have to remove, from the charger, is the little plastic protective film that's over the display - typical of electronics items with displays on them.
