Please forgive what is probably a redundant question. I am flying at the end of the week and was wondering what most people do with their EDC? I usually carry either my benchmade griptilian or my Swiss army (among other items that aren't allowed on planes. Thanks.

If you're checking baggage, then that's where to put it. Otherwise, find the first sporting goods store after you land to pick up a replacement, and mail it back to yourself when you head home.

I've never trusted the TSA with anything.  Best bet is to leave knives home if you don't absolutely need them.  If you have to bring a knife, you're probably best off getting something inexpensive that you won't mind losing, and packing it in your checked baggage.  Knives are among the items most frequently stolen by TSA when they "inspect" your checked baggage.  Something more expensive like a Benchmade is almost a sure thing that it'll disappear.

"When in doubt, leave it out."

When I travel, my knives go into a pouch which is then secured with a piece of string through the zippers then placed in my toiletry bag. I've never "lost" anything to TSA and have gotten the "We've Checked Your Bag" note on several occasions.
