I can't believe they can cut the locks on your bag, just for giggles, then don't even pay for it!

HAHAHA!!!  I don't tan, I just getting a pinkish hue......  :D

Ha! The benefit to that is being less conspicuous to TSA or any other law enforcement that "profiles". :)

I know!  I was a bit taken aback when I got into my suitcase and found that.  It's so painstaking to meticulously pack everything into its own little corner of the bag, just to have some TSA schlub undo my hard work!

That is true.  One day, when super pale people start to rebel, you'll be safe and my people will be the ones getting profiled!

I always assume that my checked bags will be opened by TSA. So I don't usually put anything in there that I care much about. I stopped using locks after 9/11. Using zip ties is a good option, if TSA needs to open at least they just snip the zip ties, and bring a few extra to "relock" on the return trip. I know there's TSA approved locks, but I don't use them.

And now I do my best to be less tan and more clean shaven :). Although the older I get, the less suspicious I seem to look....

Regardless of what I carry I always get searched or have a problem.

I've taken a pipe smoking tool through with a semi blade to it and didn't casue any harm.....until I walked through and they did bomb residue test on my hands....mind you the pipe tool was just fine. I Get searched even outside of airports and in arenas always and I rarely if ever have done anything wrong or have contraband.

Normally I do act a hooligan, but when I know I'm under a microscope I try to act good. Seems maybe I should just be bad and they will not pay me any attention

I usually put all my metal EDC stuff in a Ziploc freezer bag along with the various charging cables and adapters that usually reside in my laptop bag with my laptop and phone, and throw that in a separate bin for the TSA to examine. That tends to speed up the security checkpoint process for me.

My Schrade "tactical" pen has been questioned before because it has a glass breaker tip and ferro rod & striker built in. I've accepted the risk of losing it and most of the time it gets through ok.

RFID scanners are a real problem in crowded airports and many passports and bank cards have RFID chips now, so I use an A3 aluminum RFID blocking wallet from Obstructures and a Lewis N. Clark RFID document carrier for passports and boarding passes.

I also never leave home for very long without my Anker Astro E5 16000 mAh battery pack. That bad boy will charge my iPhone 5 at least 7 or 8 times, and it has also bailed out my friends' phones and tablets more than once. It takes up about as much space as a USB HD.

I travel often work right now.  I've accepted that I can't be without my normal EDC, so I check a bag every time I fly now.  I pack at least two multi-tools and one knife for each day I'll be wherever I'm going.  Is it utterly insane for me to do that?  Yep.
