REI - you just earned a life-long customer.
REI customer service is STELLAR! For the gear they carry (and manufacture with the REI branding), the knowledge and overall friendliness of their staff and the benefits included in being a lifetime member for a one time fee of $20, they have a return policy nearly equivalent to Wal-Mart. Here's the cool thing that they do though...a couple times a year they open the store early, but only to REI members. They call it the Garage Sale. It's basically all of the scratch and dent and returned items from throughout the previous year/6 months and sell it all dirt cheap. My wife and I went to the one on 1/4 this year, but when we go there, the line to get in was already stretched around the entire shopping center...not store...SHOPPING CENTER. I know it seems like I'm exaggerating, but there was seriously well of a thousand people lined up for this. We ate lunch and then went in, but all the Garage Sale bins had been picked clean. Anyway, that's what they do with their returned products and it's awesome.
REI is the best. Been a member there as long as I can remember.
Almost dividend time, Dom! My wife and I use our REI Visa as a debit card to get a big, fat dividend every year. I get so excited! If they would only add more high quality knives, I'd be a happy camper. Spyderco blades would be a great addition to REI's already awesome lineup!
