Now, that is amazing customer service.

REI - you just earned a life-long customer.

REI customer service is STELLAR!  For the gear they carry (and manufacture with the REI branding), the knowledge and overall friendliness of their staff and the benefits included in being a lifetime member for a one time fee of $20, they have a return policy nearly equivalent to Wal-Mart.  Here's the cool thing that they do though...a couple times a year they open the store early, but only to REI members.  They call it the Garage Sale.  It's basically all of the scratch and dent and returned items from throughout the previous year/6 months and sell it all dirt cheap.  My wife and I went to the one on 1/4 this year, but when we go there, the line to get in was already stretched around the entire shopping center...not store...SHOPPING CENTER.  I know it seems like I'm exaggerating, but there was seriously well of a thousand people lined up for this.  We ate lunch and then went in, but all the Garage Sale bins had been picked clean.  Anyway, that's what they do with their returned products and it's awesome.

REI is the best. Been a member there as long as I can remember.

Almost dividend time, Dom!  My wife and I use our REI Visa as a debit card to get a big, fat dividend every year.  I get so excited!  If they would only add more high quality knives, I'd be a happy camper.  Spyderco blades would be a great addition to REI's already awesome lineup!

David!  Since you're a big Nitecore fan, have you heard about this upcoming new light of theirs, the EC4S?  Apparently full specs haven't ben released yet, but it's already somehow won an award!  People in the candlepowerforums seem to be all abuzz about it.

I definitely need to sign up for the lifetime membership.

I actually haven't yet read about this light, yet.  Gonna have to do some research on it.

By the way, the CB6 is really nice. I'm really glad I bought it.   I have yet to take and post some decent beam shots.  I'm favorably impressed with it, so far :-)

The $20 bucks I spent on my rei membership was some of the best money I've ever spent. Between the dividends and the 20% coupons I've probably saved around $300 over the past 3 years.

Left - Primary White Light

Right - Primary Blue Light

IMG_6465.jpg

Left - Secondary Red Lights (Blue and Green Available - I just didn't take the shots)

Right - Primary Blue light (considerably brighter than the secondary colored lights

Primary Blue on both lights

These primary blue lights are way brighter than I had expected. The pictures don't do them justice.  Outdoor beam shots to follow :-)

Now, more than ever, I'm deeply regretting not having picked up the CG6 (with Green as the primary color) and the CR6 (with Red as the primary color) lights, while they were still priced as low as they were. Grrrr.

CB6 Beamshots - as promised:

IMG_6474.jpg

Typical garage shot (no car, this time).

IMG_6473.jpg

Same shot, but with the Blue primary. Pretty damned bright.  Notice the purpleish edges around the spot - not nearly as purple, in real life.  Looks a lot better, in person.

IMG_6477.jpg

Looking back the other way (garage)

IMG_6478.jpg

and with the Blue.  Very useable light.

IMG_6479.jpg

Outside

IMG_6480.jpg

..and with the Blue

IMG_6482.jpg

Not my greatest picture :|  I didn't hold it at a straight angle (it was kind of angled down); so the spot beam looks almost oblong, rather than round. This was taken maybe a few yards away from the garage door. Notice the strange pattern, This is because of the dual reflectors.  Not an issue, outdoors, or anywhere but white wall hunting lol.  White walls are completely unforgiving of flashlights.  They show up any and all artifacts, defects, or just plain oddities in any light.  I knew this shape would be more prevalent in this light, because of the design, but felt it was a nice compromise, considering the dual (quadruple, actually) emitters - two of them are primaries.

Overall, a really nice light.  I'm liking it, more and more, with each use :-)

I have a P12 I like a lot. A great alternative to the (essentially) similar Fenix PD35.

While we're in the Nitecore forum, doesn't the new MH12 have equal functionality and more with its integrated charger?

Yeah, sorry for breaching protocol. I realized it after posting, and there's no delete option that I could find.

Here's a long-overdue more recent NiteCore pic, which includes the new EC20 - which I love!

I would actually recommend the P25, over the MH12. It has superior heat sinking, a better charger plug design, and better throw, because of the larger, deeper head

The Nitecore site claims 283 meter range on the P25 and 232 on the MH12. Also, 20,000 candelas on the P25, and 13,500 on the MH12. That's a significant difference.

Another thing to note:
  • Automated step-down on the P25 is 3 minutes (from 860 to 550 lumens)
  • Automated step-down on the MH12 is 3 minutes (from 1,000 to 240 lumens). That bites :-(

The P25 is not a super compact light, like the MH12, though - so if you're looking for something that will disappear in your pocket, the P25 won't do it. Mine weighed in at about 8 ounces, with the battery installed -not exactly light as a feather. But the dual spring design makes it more suitable for weapons mounting (better resistance to heavy recoil), for those of you that may be consider weapon-mounting the light.

Edit - it appears they both have the dual spring design - and this newer version (the MH12) has improved their USB input cover (no more having to unscrew a ring, to reach the USB port, like other MH rechargeable lights had).

Here is an exhaustive review on the P25 (I haven't found any thorough reviews online, for the MH12, yet);
http://www.candlepow...BEAMSHOTS-VIDEO

I would still vote for the P25, over the MH12.

My $.10 worth.
