I am interested in trying a minimalist, metal construction wallet instead of my generic leather bi-fold. Does anyone have any experience with carrying metal wallets? I usually carry only 4-6 cards and some cash, and I really like the design and look of the aluminum Ridge Wallet. I would prefer not to go much above $50. Any suggestions?

I've played around woth various metal wallet and card holders. Personally I love leather fsr too much to change, but if I did, it would be along these lines:

That Cascade Wallet seems a little bit hokey, but if the build quality is good and the mechanism works it could definitely be very cool.

I use one of these. Once you get used to it, it works like a charm

I'm currently rocking the Captain Steampunk version of Ti2's wallets, which got Kickstarted late last year. Of all the minimalist wallets that have come through the site, this is the one I really liked and invested in. Been using it since the day I got it and will probably get some more down the line:

I'm quite enjoying it, and at $37 during the Kickstarter campaign it was a no-brainer. My next one would probably be either the plain Ti or the blue version though -- this guy is double the weight of the others.

Thanks Mikey. And with all due respect to the great Jose Abad Santos, that picture looks a tad like the President.

Yep. For some reason that illustration jist looked like it to me. Like I said, with all due respect of course. I have read many many good things about him.

I picked up one of the Machine Era Co. machined aluminum wallets last week from Huckberry. It is on top of my old leather wallet in the pictures for a size comparison. I think it will take some getting used to because it is a little bit more difficult to get to a certain card, but right now I only have 5 in there (drivers license, insurance card, visa, Fred Meyer rewards, and REI membership) as well as a bit of cash. I really like how slim it is, and the minimal space forces me to keep it organized and clean. I used to throw receipts, loose change, random business cards, etc. in my wallet and it got cluttered and overstuffed.

Im not a fan of unflexible wallets like the machine era and others. I find that even if they are smaller in size, the inability to bend makes them inherently less comfortable.

Currently I use a http://www.jachenri.com/wallet, and I think its about the best of all worlds- Very slim and carrys up to 10 cards with cash, and looks good as well.
